Jillian Sterns, Freelance Foundation and Government Grant Writer

Jillian received her Bachelor of Arts with dual majors in Psychology and Human Development from the Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master of Arts in Counseling, with a School Counseling concentration from the University of Colorado Denver. Jillian’s 8 years as an educator in Title I schools provided extensive experience in program design and evaluation, focusing on methods that increase equity in achievement and access to resources in underserved student populations. Her grant writing career began in her role as School Counselor at an Early College in Aurora, Colorado. Jillian authored and was awarded the Colorado School Counselor Corps Grant, totaling $270,000. She was inspired by the grant’s power and impact, leading her to start grant writing full-time as an independent contractor. Grant writing combines Jillian’s love for learning, researching, writing, and advocacy to support organizations that deliver essential and impactful services to the community’s most vulnerable members.
